Blackhawks on an air-assault mission
Lots of
recruits wonder about how they can get a big enlistment bonus.
The answer is really simple - just ask for one! My ASVAB
score landed
me a $5000 bonus - it really can be that easy! I asked my Dad's
coworker
who was in the Army to check over my contract. Don't be rushed, get
help from people who have been in the service and take your time signing
on the dotted line.
Please don't go to the Recruiters like a desperado who is being run off
the ranch! Take your time and make an intelligent decision
about joining
the Army. Signing up is a decision that will impact the rest of your
life.
Always let them know that you might go to college instead, or
maybe you're thinking about joining the Air Force,
this will make them want you more than you need them!
Once you're in Army Basic Training, life falls into a routine of really
long days filled with training and nights spent "squaring" away
your gear and studying. Much of what you'll be learning is
already available to you in my book. It has other things too...
Stuff they'll never tell you about, like passing inspections...
All of this powerful INSIDE-INFORMATION is detailed in
this 508 page manual
titled Army Basic Training Survival and Success in the US Army.

P.S. Ask your mom to help you get through Army Basic Training!!?
It's true: you can learn a great skill to use in the field and you
can do something
really nice for the person who is secretly worried out of their mind for you.
Joining the US Army isn't just the empty nest, its like you're falling
out of the
nest. Every instinct she has tells her to stop you, so do something
nice and ask her for this useful advice:
Grab an old pair of Army pants and rip some buttons off and
tear out the knee. Before you leave ask your mother to show you how
to correctly sew on a button and fix a tear. She'll feel
better because
parents love helping their kids and it will help you because you need
to know how to keep your butt from hanging out after your pants get
shredded on the barbed wire.
P.P.S. When you buy recommended items at your Regular Unit, the
sewing kit is one of them. Don't buy a kit big enough for an arts
and craft
fair, buy a very small travel sewing kit or a small spool of black thread
and
a needle will do. Anything
more elaborate will make you feel awkward.
